Caring For Your Mattress

A quality mattress is an investment in your comfort and wellbeing. With the right care, you can extend its lifespan and enjoy years of restful sleep. Follow our simple tips below to keep your mattress in top condition.

1. Rotate Regularly

To maintain even wear and support, rotate your mattress every 2–3 months.

Double-sided mattresses: Flip and rotate from head to foot.

Single-sided mattresses: Rotate from head to foot only.

2. Use a Mattress Protector

A good-quality, breathable mattress protector is essential. It helps shield your mattress from dust, spills, and stains while keeping it hygienic and fresh. Wash the protector regularly according to care instructions.

We recommend the Guardsman CM TENCEL® Mattress Protector — made from naturally soft and breathable TENCEL® fibres with a waterproof yet quiet and comfortable backing. It not only enhances your sleep comfort but also extends the life of your mattress. Plus, it comes with a 10-year warranty when registered with Guardsman, giving you lasting peace of mind.

3. Keep It Clean

Vacuum your mattress surface and sides every few months using a clean upholstery attachment. This helps remove dust, dead skin cells, and allergens.

If spills occur, spot clean immediately using a mild detergent and a damp cloth — never soak the mattress.

4. Allow for Airflow

Air your mattress regularly by pulling back the bedding for a few hours each week. This allows moisture to evaporate and keeps your mattress fresher for longer.

5. Support It Properly

Always use your mattress on a suitable base or bed frame. A sagging or uneven base can affect comfort and void the manufacturer’s warranty.

6. Avoid Jumping or Standing on the Bed

Excessive pressure on one area can damage internal springs or foam layers. Encourage kids to keep playtime off the bed.

7. Moving or Storing

When transporting your mattress, keep it upright and protected in a mattress bag to prevent tears or dirt. Avoid bending or folding the mattress.
